ALBERT EINSTEINHis contributions substantially changed the world view of physics.
His treatises revolutionised the world’s conception of physics,
which were previously based on purely mechanistic patterns of thought:
- the theory of relativity, which revolutionised the understanding
of space and time. In 1905, he wrote the special theory of relativity,
followed by the publication of the general theory of relativity in 1916
- he wrote important papers on quantum physics.
In 1921, he received the Noble Prize for Physics for his explanation of
the photoelectrical effect. His findings are among the most important
and significant progress of modern physics.
He was a researcher and a genius. The Swiss citizen (he changed
his nationality in 1901) was also held in high esteem worldwide for his
commitment to international understanding and peace.
The journalist Jürgen Neffe wrote about him in the following words:
” Albert Einstein symbolises like no other the natural science of the
20th century, which he influenced in a decisive manner through his
theory of relativity, his pioneering contributions to quantum theory as
well as through numerous other scientific accomplishments.”
“Through thought and reflection alone, the genius was able to penetrate the universe and its deepest secrets Albert Einstein.”
